Details of service in war: June 1900 - June 1901 in Free State, Transvaal, and battle of Rhenoster Kop (29 November 1900), great De Wet hunt and advance on Pietersburg and into east Transvaal. Originally enlisted as a Private, but was later classified as an Artificer (Blacksmith). He wore a gilt embroidered badge of a Hammer and Pincers.
Service and life after the Boer War: Albert married Rose Methuen in Pretoria, South Africa 1903. Rose was born to Canadian parents who moved there to work in the mines. Albert and Rose had Eileen Florence on 7 November 1904 and settled back in Australia 1905-1906. Albert utilised his trade as a Blacksmith when they settled near Benalla-Tatong between 1910-1920. Rose passed away in the Royal Women's Hospital Melbourne on the 20 August 1923 due to complications from an operation.
