Service and life after the Boer War: Returned to Australia: 7 August 1902 on the Britannic. He worked in the Queenstown Mines, Tasmania. Married at Latrobe, Tasmania. Moved back to Victoria in 1910, resided at Kensington, later Windsor, Victoria. In his civilian life (after WW1 he was employed as an Actuary at a Melbourne Insurance Company. ) His nickname was "Doc" and he attended every Anzac Day march.
