Details of service in war: From December 1899 in northwest Cape Colony including victory over rebel band at Sunnyside (1 January 1900), Free State, and east Transvaal. Invalided to Australia with Enteric Fever, arriving on 18 Aug 1900 on "Aberdeen". Discharged 25 Aug 1900. Served 309 days, 259 of them abroad
Service and life after the Boer War: Was a farmer in the Sunnybank area. Served in the Militia (2nd Light Horse (QMI)) and was commissioned 2lt 21 May 1907 Capt 1913. Volunteered for AIF WW1, but rejected as medically unfit. Served in Australia as OC Light Horse Remount Depot at Chermside (Brisbane) now Marchant Park (possibly as a major). Discharged 1916 because of ill health of wife.
