Service and life after the Boer War: Worked as a plumber, lived at Mount Gambier. Served two years in G Company, Mt Gambier Infantry. Joined the AIF 16 September 1915, initially served with the Light Horse, but was transferred to the Artillery. Wounded in action in France 5 October 1917. Returned to Australia and discharged 5 April 1919. Married and had a son Walter Charles Beale on 6 Dec 1925, he served in the RAAF in WW2.
